Using periodised and progressive training to improve the performance and well-being of our clients.

Trained by Science was a small side hustle started by Chris and Jamie that looked to utilize online programming to help people exercise, rehabilitate injuries and manage chronic conditions. The project has since grown to include face to face and group programming formats where we have built a highly supportive community. Our services utilise principles of strength and conditioning to help rehabilitate injuries, manage chronic conditions and build and maintain overall fitness. Our vision is to improve the health of our clients far beyond where they thought they could be.

Jamie – Exercise Physiologist – Owner

Jamie was a keen sportsman from an early age, resulting in him competing at a high level in a variety of different sports. Although no longer playing sports Jamie has gone from coaching 5 year olds to run, jump and kick a ball, to training 12 year olds in football, to working in professional level environments in strength and conditioning. Jamie has worked as the Brisbane Roar Youth Strength and Conditioning Coach helping to develop up and coming talent. He was then Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Brisbane Strikers and was part of the team that made a run to the FFA cup semi-final. He is now the Head of High Performance at Wynnum Wolves Football Club.

Jamie has Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology and a Master of Applied Science in Research. He works in clinical practice as an Exercise Physiologist where his interest areas are musculoskeletal rehabitation in sporting and non-sporting populations, such as knee replacement and back pain, and neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

With a wide and diverse experience in exercise delivery, Jamie has pulled knowledge from many areas to help his clients and believes that treatment or exercise programming needs to be chronically periodised. Programs must be monitored and progressed or regressed to help the athlete or client reach their goals to ensure they stay healthy in the long term rather than the short term.

Chris – Exercise Physiologist – Owner

Like Jamie, Chris grew up playing multiple sports and was highly active throughout his youth. A keen interest in sport performance and injury rehabilitation led Chris to study Exercise Physiology and a Master of Research investigating lower limb muscle characteristics and their contributions to sprint and jump performance. He is a qualified Exercise Physiologist, Strength & Conditioning Coach and published author on 2 scientific papers.

During his 15 years working in the fitness industry, Chris has gained experience working with a wide range of athletes to physically and mentally prepare them to compete at some of the highest levels for their chosen sport. This experience has revolved around developing and improving their speed, strength, power, endurance and mental resilience in youth and adult athletes.

Youth participation in sport is a major passion of Chris’s which is reflected in the training methods he utilises, which focus on the development of solid movement foundations to then build more performance based qualities. With his combined clinical and performance knowledge, Chris has specialised in youth development and common youth injuries, and guides teams and athletes on best preparation for competition, and more importantly, life-long participation in physical activity. Chris aims to ensure that every athlete is provided with opportunities to learn, demonstrate their capabilities and to enjoy their sessions.
